What are the early signs of diabetes? 


In this article, we will try to look at the early warning signs and symptoms of type 2 diabetes, which if treated and addressed timely can save a lot.

1. Polyuria or Frequent urination


Our body tries to balance things.  Whenever blood sugar levels are on the higher side, our kidneys try to remove the excess sugar of the blood. And this is done by excess urination.

2. Polydipsia or Increased thirst


The frequent urination that happens to remove excess sugar from the blood can result in the body losing water leading to dehydration. 

3. Polyphagia or frequent hunger


Diabetic people do not get a proper supply of glucose as less glucose moves from the bloodstream into the cells.

4. Tiredness


One must remember that type 2 diabetes can have a huge impact on a person’s energy levels which makes one feel very tired or fatigued.

5. Blurry vision or blurred vision

 

Excess of sugar causes a lot of harm to the tiny blood vessels in the eyes

6. Slow healing of the wounds and cuts

 

High blood sugar levels can damage the body’s blood vessels and nerves leading to impaired blood circulation. 

7. Numbness, Tingling, or pain in the feet or hands

 

High blood sugar levels can affect the body's nerves and blood circulation. 

8. Acanthosis nigricans or patches of dark skin

 

People at higher risk of diabetes have dark skin patches in the creases of the armpit, groin, or neck which may feel very soft and velvety.

9. Itching of skin and yeast infections

Excessive sugar in the urine and blood can be food for yeast.
